It will be obvious that superheroes are a big favorite with our boys after reading this story.

The kids had a bubble bath tonight (which was Eden's first, and she was absolutely enthralled with the bubbles), and Owen piled as many bubbles as would cling to him over his whole body before stepping out onto the mat, at which point he shouted, "I am BUBBLEMAN!  Wha-ha-ha!  Watch out for BUBBLEMAN!"  He kept up his performance as I approached with his towel and began to wrap it around him, and as I did he yelled sharply in pain!  I was quite startled and couldn't figure out if I'd stepped on his foot, or he'd backed into something sharp or what...I jumped back!  Owen then says, "No mom!  Towels defeat me!!"

Owen's 6th

We had 10 friends for a make-your-own cake party on Saturday, and had great weather!  (Whew!  I so did not have time to clean the house very well!).  All the kids had a station where they mixed up ingredients for a cake, and while they baked we did an egg relay, and obstacle course and launched water balloons with a bungy slingshot (definite hit of the party) and pinata.  Then, we ate pizza, decorated cakes (ahem, covered in 1 inch depth of various decorations) and ate the creations.  Great fun had by all!

What do you do when you can't winnow down to the very cutest selections of a 3 year old in a soccer uniform?  Post them all!

Owen's actual birthday

We had a small celebration on Thursday of Owen's actual 6th birthday...presents from family, and Owen's specially requested meal of calzones and strawberry pie.

New camera

Mom, this skateboard is "THE BEST"!!  It is SO much better than the skateboard from Santa that didn't roll very well.

Mmmm.  Strawberry pie is painful for mothers on low-carbohydrate regimens.

Odds + Ends

 The boys sat and watched the plasterers with rapt attention.  It was truly amazing!  You try icing the walls and ceilings and having it come out as smooth as glass...wow.  And they are fast to boot.

We had a little campfire and had hot dogs and smores for dinner.  If a messy baby is a happy one, Eden was in heaven.  I could not fully capture her dirtiness on film, but the tub had an awful ring when I drained it tonight.  Marshmallow+dirt+grease+not yet walking full time=eeeuw.

A couple weeks back

We had fun on Patriot's Day (while a bombing was going on, unfortunately) going to the local state park and doing what we like to do there, walking a bit, seeing animals, throwing rocks in the water and this year....drum roll...netting fish!  Oh, the fun.  You've rarely seen such excited boys.

Some nights we forfeit a bedtime story for a silly made-up song.  Usually I give choices of goofy titles like...
A.  My dad is actually an alien
B.  The cow eats pickles for lunch
C.  I like jellybeans in my salad

Tonight I didn't have choices in me so first thing I spat out..."There is macaroni in my guacamole."  The insta-lyrics were going something like this...

I love guacamole
It's green and it's tasty
It tastes like limes and onions
And a little bit of garlic.
Some salt and pepper
and sometimes a tomato,
It's my favorite snack of all.

I love macaroni
Noodly and cheesy,
Yummy in my tummy
Is some macaroni,
But what I do not want
I never want to taste,
Is what I found in my bowl...
Macaroni in my guacamole!

Take it to the sink,
Rinse those noodles off
Get off all the green stuff
That goes on a taco.
Put some cheese back in it
And put it in a bowl
A bite of macaroni
THEN a bite of guacamole.

When I eat them separately
They mix up in my tummy

"But I don't have a tongue

So I don't care about that!"

Ha ha, that made me giggle!  Owen comes up with some great lines sometimes :)
