Happy Halloween 2014!

Princess of the blue dress (technically Princess Merida from Brave, but we just picked a dress.  She's never seen the movie ;)  Did NOT want to put on a costume or trick or treat, but Daddy insisted, and you see the smile that happened after the outing :)

A moment

There's always some sort of zany fun (or fight) going on around here.  Best to catch the fun moments!  I hated to make them put their fun find away, but I KNOW Aunt L. does not want to reknit 5 new stockings for our family :}  They are just so fun to slide around in, though!

Garden's long gone

The garden is long gone, but here are photos hanging out on my camera.  Everyone enjoyed fresh carrots picked from their own little patch of the yard this year.  I think we'll skip tomatoes and just do a lot of carrots next year, since they are what got eaten up.

Asher, end of preschool 2014

Speaking of drawings, finally scanned this one before sending it to the circular file...kept it up for so long because it made me laugh.  It was Asher's last day of preschool drawing of his family.

"Asher, who are each of these people?"
The orange one is mommy, the green one is daddy, the pink one is Owen [color chosen by Asher just to anger his brother].
"What is this on the side of your head?" [mom points to brown figure]
That's Eden.  She is crying, those are her tears.  Wah, wah, wah.
"So you are the yellow one?  Why are you in the air?"
Because I am flying!

Eden's first face drawing!

Don't know why I find it interesting, but I have always noticed the first time my children draw a face.  So far Eden has scribbled, and the scribbling has taken on a more controlled quality in recent months.  Today, a face!  I didn't expect it and then there it was!  She was QUITE proud of herself :)

Then she drew 'grass', the blue stuff at the bottom, which she draws consistently at the bottom of all pictures.  The light blue squiggle on top center of the face is the hair, she tells me, so I'm not at all sure what the dark blue mane is supposed to be.  Fun.  We went to the zoo today for a field trip, so I suspect she was inspired by the hairy yak we saw.

Behind

Very behind on this whole recordkeeping thing.  Sort of leaving out MY SISTER'S WEDDING, for goodness' sake, but I just haven't had time to get to writing something down.  However, I can't not write this tidbit down.  Eden is in her toddler glory.  She is so cute I can't take it.  I feel perpetually guilty that she will not have a sister...sigh.  I'll always feel bad about that.  But I have never mentioned even the concept to her...didn't think it was on her radar.  That is, until today, when we were cleaning her room and I started piling all of her stuffed animals on her bed....

E:  NOOO Mommy, don't do dat!!
Me:  I was putting all of your friends on your bed where you like them!
E:  No, put dose all dose udder ones somewhere else.  I onwy want my sisters on my bed wif me.
Me:  Huh?
E:  [picks up giant Hello Kitty stuffed animal #1 and giant Hello Kitty stuffed animal #2 and sets them on bed...I did NOT buy these for her, by the way]  Dere.  Onwy my sisters sweep on my bed wif me.
Owen:  Those are your sisters?  What are their names?
E:  Dat one is Hewwo Kitty and dat one is Kitty.  Dey are my two sisters, weave dem wight dere.

So sweet and so sad!!!!  Owen and I were in stitches!!!
